This website is designed for students enrolled or considering enrollent in courses taught by Professor Heidi I. Sarver at the University of Delaware.

Syllabi, performance schedules, philosophies behind each course, and other general information is included.

In addition, course assignments for enrolled students are also posted on course specific pages. Most, if not all, of these postings require authentication. This information is provided to students on the first day the course in question meets.

About Heidi I. Sarver

Heidi I. Sarver is an Associate Professor of Music at the University of Delaware. She was appointed to the faculty of the Department of Music in 1995. Ms. Sarver is Director of the 300+ member Fightin’ Blue Hen Marching Band, co-conductor of the Symphonic Band and instructor of the Marching Band Techniques course She is also the supervisor for student teachers pursuing an undergraduate degree in music education.

Ms. Sarver attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst where she received a Bachelors Degree in Music Education and a Master of Music Degree in Trumpet Performance. Her teachers include George N. Parks, Walter M. Chesnut, Malcolm W. Rowell and Seymour Rosenfeld.

Active throughput the northeast as an adjudicator, clinician and guest conductor, Ms. Sarver is best known for her work with the George N. Parks Drum Major Academy. Her contributions to DMA have spanned over 25 years and include that of lead clinician, personnel manager and web site administrator. She is also an adjudicator and production assistant for the Sugar and Orange Bowls through Heritage Festivals and Bowl Games of America. In 2005 Ms. Sarver was the Assistant Director for the Bands of America Honor Band’s inaugural performance in the Tournament of Roses Parade and again in their second appearence in 2009. second appearance in 2009.

She is an avid show designer and has written for many high schools in New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Arizona, as well as being the primary show designer for the University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band, recipient of the Louis C. Sudler Trophy in 1998. Her show designs are also available for purchase through Marching Show Concepts.

In the past Ms. Sarver has performed with the Reading Buccaneers Senior Drum and Bugle Corps as a soprano soloist, music instructor and drum major. Prior to her appointment at the University of Delaware, she was a high school band director in New York, and the Assistant Director of Bands at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is a member of DMEA, MENC, CBDNA, and is currently serving as the Delaware State Chair for the National Band Association.
